Beach ARSANAS, few meters from the Monastery Zygou or Fragokastro Arsanas is located after the village of Ouranoupolis towards Mount Athos and took its name after the monastic arsana (harbour) which once stood there. It is a rocky beach about 3km after the actual village and quite difficult to reach.

The locals call this area Gaidouronisia (donkey islands) and it’s a gathering of small islands just under 2 miles off the coast of Ouranoupolis and Ammouliani. You may go there by renting a boat from Christos and Nikos. Another way of  reaching the Drenia islands is by the kaiki boats which leave from the main harbour (in front of the Tower) of Ouranoupolis starting at 10:00 am and every hour until 18:00 pm daily. There is a lovely tavern awaiting you!

This beach is also on the island of Ammouliani on the side facing Ouranoupolis and is accessible by both car from the village or by boat. If you decide to go by car from the village, you will see a lot of other smaller beaches along the way. You may also find a lot of them around the group of small islands surrounding Ammouliani. For all of them, you will of course need a boat but it’s well worth the effort and an unforgettable adventure! You will find a lot of cafes and taverns scattered in this area.

This beach is on the island of Ammouliani behind the village facing Sithonia and you may go there by boat but also by car from the village of Ammouliani. There are many taverns and cafes for relaxation. Also behind the village there are a lot of  other smaller beaches but only accessible by boat if you wish to visit them. Try this beach, it is worth the visit!
